Deacon Robert Lee Lawson, a devoted servant, loving father, and faithful man of God, entered his eternal rest on March 4, 2026. He was born on February 3, 1952, in Rayville, Louisiana, to the late Lee and Alma Lawson. Raised in a home grounded in faith, Robert accepted Christ at an early age at Mount Olive Baptist Church under the leadership of the late Rev. L. W. Watson. His spiritual foundation would guide him throughout his life.
Robert was educated in the Richland Parish School System and graduated from Alto High School in 1970. Shortly after, he relocated to Dallas, Texas, where he built a life marked by love, family, and service. It was in Dallas that he met and married the love of his life, Rita Lawson. Their union was blessed with sons: Robert (Andra) Hart, Sedric (Nikki) Lawson, Willie (LaKesha) Lawson, Keith Hutchinson and Willie Brown all of Dallas, Texas. Robert was immensely proud of his children and cherished every moment spent with them.
A dedicated and hardworking man, Robert was employed for many years with the City of Dallas in the Streets Department. His commitment to his work reflected his character—steady, dependable, and humble. Outside of his professional life, Robert found joy in the simple pleasures of life. He loved fishing, relaxing outdoors, and being surrounded by the laughter and warmth of his family. These moments brought him peace and fulfillment.
Robert was a faithful member and Deacon of Harding Street Baptist Church under the leadership of Rev. Manson. He served with integrity, compassion, and a heart for God’s people. His quiet strength and unwavering faith touched many lives, and his presence will be deeply missed within the church and community.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Lee & Alma Lawson; paternal grandparents, Will & Annie Lawson; maternal grandparents, Arlene & Elnora Hill; one sister, Ruthie Lee Lawson; and one brother, Odell Lawson.
Robert leaves to cherish his memory his three devoted sons; his loving sisters Curity Thomas, Rose Lawson, Matilda Trackling, Annie Mae Lawson, Dorothy Lawson, Ella Lawson, Darlene Lawson, and Lillie Mae Bryson; his brothers Lee Daniel Lawson, Archie (Deborah) Lawson, and Ray Lawson; one aunt, Pearline Rowl; one uncle, Eugene Hill; and a host of grandchildren, great‑grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends who will forever hold his memory close to their hearts.
Deacon Robert Lee Lawson lived a life of faith, family, and service. His legacy of love, humility, and devotion will continue to shine through all who were blessed to know him.
