Sherry Robinson Obituary

Sherry L. (Hill) Robinson, often known as GiGi, transitioned gracefully on July 18, 2025, in Dallas, Texas, where she is now with the Lord. She was born on November 6, 1961, in Dallas, Texas, for which she was proud to remind you, and was the youngest daughter of Hollis and Doris Hill. She was brought up in the church, having attended New Jerusalem through childhood. Even at an early age, she displayed an affinity for church as she participated in the Usher board, choir, and anything else possible.

During her adolescence, she advanced through the Dallas Independent School District, where she attended Silberstein Elementary and later graduated with the Class of 1980 from the infamous Skyline High School…. (the Class with Class)! Through the coming years after graduating high school, she realized her love and true passion for education. So, she made the decision to enter the Dallas Independent School District as a teacher assistant. Through years of meticulous consideration to inspire her students, she poured into each of them with the same love and care as if they were her own.

After years of service, she decided to continue her education where she enrolled in Paul Quinn college. After two short years, she graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Organizational Management with Magna Cum Laude honors. It was during this period that she found more purpose and joined the Alliance AFT union for which she was an avid pursuant of employee rights, better benefits, and overall improved working conditions for all non-administrative employees within DISD. She also joined
the Zeta Phi Beta, Inc. Sorority where she was known as “Queen Nandy” under the “Royal Nine” line and had been a loyal member for the last 18 years. After this, she was able to continue her teaching career and educational tenure, which spanned nearly three decades.

Through all her endeavors, she was always supported by family, both beside and behind her every step of the way. Her husband, Victor, was a faithful servant to his wife, specifically in the final years of her life. He labored with her and cared for her as she fought valiantly in her battle against cancer. They married in 1996 and have continued their love for the last 29 years. In the following years, they joined Mesquite Friendship Baptist Church where Sherry continued serving God as a faithful member of the Mass choir as well as the Greeters ministry. Family was always foremost for Sherry, and she did all she could to prioritize her loved ones. Even greater, she loved the Lord and tried to show his love through her actions towards others.

Sherry was preceded in death by her mother, Doris Hill, whom she loved very much. Yet still, her memory will live on forever through her surviving family: her devoted husband Victor, son Louis (Trinette) Berry Jr., bonus daughters Shrevondolyn (Chris) Coleman and Talissha Robinson; bonus grandchildren Chris Jr. and Bryson; siblings Cheryl Robinson, Sharon Johnson, and Hollis Hill; niece-daughter Jacole “Niecey” Robinson as well as nephew-son Emmanel Edwards. In addition, she is survived by her father, Hollis Hill Sr. and leaves behind countless other family members and friends who have all impacted her in their own special way.
